🚫 How to Spot a Fake Skoggy (And What to Do About It)

Protecting your plush — and your wallet — from counterfeits and dupes.

We’re flattered that Skoggy’s popularity has inspired imitators, but not every plush with a round face and soft fur is the real deal. Unfortunately, some sellers are using our brand name or likeness to push low-quality knockoffs that don’t meet our standards — or your expectations.

Here’s how to tell if you’ve found a genuine Skoggy, how to avoid fakes, and what to do if you suspect something’s off.

🧸 What Makes a Real Skoggy?

Every official Skoggy plush comes with:

  • ✅ A side tag with our Skoggy branding (clean, woven, and securely attached)

  • ✅ Unique, expressive design based on our in-house patterns — not generic molds

  • ✅ Semi-stretchy, soft-touch outer fabric with rabbit-like plush texture

  • ✅ No plastic eyes — always embroidered or appliqué details

  • ✅ Vacuum-sealed packaging with cheerful red mailer

  • ✅ Shipped only from Skoggy.com or other approved retailers

If your plush doesn’t check these boxes, it might be a dupe.

🛑 Common Signs of a Fake Skoggy

Counterfeit listings may:

  • ❌ Use stolen Skoggy photos but send a generic plush instead

  • ❌ Miss key design features like tag placement or facial details

  • ❌ Use scratchy fur, stiff fill, or misshapen proportions

  • ❌ Ship without vacuum-sealing, in white or grey plastic mailers or cardboard boxes

  • ❌ Appear on unauthorized sites like Amazon, eBay, AliExpress, Temu, Etsy, or no-name dropship sites

  • ❌ Sell for suspiciously low prices — like $40 for something we retail at $125

If it looks too good to be true… it probably is.

🔍 How to Verify a Listing Before You Buy

Before purchasing:

  1. Check the website URL — is it really skoggy.com?

  2. Compare the plush to our product page photos — look at stitching, tag placement, and proportions.

  3. Look for typos or weird grammar in product descriptions.

  4. Research the seller — do they have contact info, brand transparency, or any customer reviews with photos?

Still unsure? Email us a link or screenshot at fraud@skoggy.com. We’ll tell you right away if it’s real or not.

🧾 What If I Already Bought a Fake?

If you’ve received a suspicious plush:

  • Take clear photos of the item, tags, and packaging.

  • Include the seller name, website URL, and your order confirmation if you have it.

  • Send everything to fraud@skoggy.com — we’ll review it and confirm.

We can’t refund purchases made through other sites, but we may be able to offer a discount on a replacement, and we’ll investigate the seller for takedown.

Note: Fakes don’t just hurt our brand — they mislead you, deliver disappointing quality, and sometimes carry health risks due to unsafe materials.
